Carmen Sylve is the pseudonym for Elisabeth of Wied (1843.) the first Queen of Romania, writter and admirer of Opatia. Born in a powerful aristocratic family in German town Neuwied placed on the east bank of Rhine. In 1869.she married the Romanian regent, prince of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen who in 1881. became the first king of Romania.

Opatija (italian Abbazia) is the charming seaside resort in Kvarner Gulf known as the „Pearl of the Adriatic Sea“ and „The Queen of tourism“. The pleasant and mild climate makes it a perfect destination throughout the year. It is situated in a sheltered position at the foot of Učka massif that protects it from strong wind.
